Privacy notice
Version 2026-10-05.1
What ARC collects
- Account details: your name, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), time zone and the invitation code you joined with.
- What you tell ARC about yourself: your onboarding answers, your persona and wellbeing scores, daily check-ins, plans, goals, reminders and reflections.
- Companion conversations: your messages and ARC's replies, a summary of the conversation, and the memories and preferences ARC keeps so it can help you. You control most of this (see "Your choices").
- Community activity: posts, comments, direct messages, connections, communities, events, challenges, travel plans, reports you file and members you block.
- Location: an approximate location derived from your network address by our hosting provider, used for local weather and context. If you choose "use my location" or name a city, ARC stores that on your account.
- BIORIM Credits: a record of each credit awarded, corrected or reversed, and the activity that earned it.
- Images you upload, and the notifications ARC sends you.
- Safety records: if a message suggests you may be at risk, ARC records the category and time so the right support is shown. The words that triggered it are not kept in readable form.
ARC does not use advertising or analytics trackers. The cookies it sets keep you signed in and protect your account.
Why ARC uses it
To run your membership and the features you use: your Today screen, ARC State, the Companion, plans and check-ins, BIORIM Credits, the community and the marketplace. To keep members safe: moderation, blocking, rate limits and the safety checks on Companion messages. To send you the emails your account needs, such as confirming your address or resetting your password.
Your choices
You can see and change each of these in the Trust Centre. The first two are needed for the Companion and your wellbeing features to work at all; turning them off stops those features.
| Use | What it means | If you turn it off |
|---|---|---|
| Use AI to answer you (needed) | Your messages are sent to an external AI provider so ARC can reply. Without this the Companion cannot answer at all. | The Companion is unavailable. Everything else in ARC still works. |
| Use your wellbeing information (needed) | ARC uses your check-ins, scores and any connected device data to work out what to suggest. | Suggestions become generic. Your signals and ARC state are not calculated. |
| Save our conversations | Keeps what you and ARC said, so you can pick up where you left off. | Nothing is saved. Each conversation starts fresh. |
| Use what ARC already remembers | Lets ARC bring what it knows about you into an answer. | ARC answers without reference to anything it has stored about you. |
| Remember new things | Lets ARC note things you tell it, so you do not have to repeat them. | Nothing new is remembered. Existing memories stay until you delete them. |
| Reach out to me | Lets ARC start a conversation, send a reminder, or offer a reflection. | ARC only speaks when you speak to it first. |
| Read my device data | Daily summaries from a connected device: sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, steps. | No device data is read. Balance and some signals stay unavailable. |
| Use my voice | Speaking to ARC. Your browser handles the speech, and in most browsers that audio is sent to the browser vendor to be transcribed. | The microphone button is unavailable. Typing works as normal. |
| Share with a partner when I ask | When you request a booking or a quote, the details needed to fulfil it go to that partner. | You can browse the marketplace but cannot send an enquiry or request a booking. |
| Send me news about ARC | Occasional updates about ARC. Never your wellbeing information. | You receive only messages about your own account and activity. |
Private mode in the Companion stops ARC saving that conversation, extracting memories from it, or using it for proactive suggestions.
The Companion and AI
Companion replies are written by an external AI provider. For each reply ARC sends the provider your message, recent messages from the same conversation, your first name, your archetype, your wellbeing scores, any memories relevant to what you asked, and the preferences you set for the Companion (including your home city and service area if you gave them). It does not send your email address, your precise location or your contacts. The Companion gives wellbeing guidance, not medical advice. It can be wrong. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services.
The microphone button uses your browser's own speech recognition, which in most browsers sends the audio to the browser's maker. ARC's own voice conversations are not available in this release.
Who else processes your information
These services handle information for ARC to run the product. Some are based outside the country you live in, including in the United States.
| Service | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosts the app (Frankfurt region) | Every request, including your IP address and the approximate location Vercel derives from it |
| Neon | Database (EU) | Everything stored about your account |
| Amazon Web Services (S3) | File storage, in an account ARC owns (Frankfurt) | Images you upload |
| Resend | Email delivery | Your email address and the messages ARC sends you |
| Anthropic | AI replies from the Companion | What is described under "The Companion and AI" |
| A second AI provider | Used only if the first is unavailable, and for search embeddings | The same as the first provider for a reply; the text of a search for embeddings |
| Open-Meteo | Local weather on your Today screen | Your approximate location, rounded, with no name or account details |
| Upstash | Rate limiting and short-lived caching (Redis, Frankfurt) | Counters and cached pages keyed by account or network address |
| Sentry | Error reports, when switched on | Technical details of an error, with personal data, cookies and request bodies removed |
Payments, paid bookings, credit redemption and wearable device connections are switched off in this release, so no payment or device service receives anything. ARC does not sell your information.
Other members see what you choose to share in the community: your posts, comments and the profile details you make visible. Members you block, and members who block you, do not see each other.
How long ARC keeps it
Today ARC keeps your information while your account is open. Automatic deletion periods have been written (for example, Companion messages older than 90 days except the latest 200 in each conversation) but are not yet switched on; until they are, nothing is deleted on a schedule. This notice will be updated when they are.
Deleting a memory in the Trust Centre stops ARC using it straight away; it is removed completely when you close your account.
Your rights and how to use them
Download your information
The Trust Centre gives you one file with your account, onboarding answers, consent history, Companion conversations and memories, check-ins, plans, BIORIM records, safety categories, posts, comments, messages, connections, community activity, uploads, marketplace requests and notifications. Other members appear in it by an internal id, never by email.
Close your account
Closing your account in the Trust Centre (you confirm with your password) deletes your profile, Companion conversations and memories, wellbeing and check-in records, posts, comments, messages, uploads and safety records. Your account itself is kept only as an anonymised record, so it cannot be used to sign in.
Some records are kept after closure because other records depend on them:
- the BIORIM Credit ledger, which has to stay complete for every member's balance to add up;
- referral records, reports filed by or about the account, and the administrators' audit log;
- your consent history and a record that the account was closed, so ARC can show what you agreed to and when;
- bookings and Genesis membership records, with your personal details removed.
